Ecology: "An unusually broad tolerance spectrum, from oligotrophic, electrolyte poor, weakly acidic waters to those that are eutrohic, moderately electrolyte rich and weakly alkaline. The saprobid tolerance ranges from oligo- to weakly alpha-beta-mesosaprobic."
